Video players are such a perfect example of design over function. You move your cursor and the UI is overlaid on top, hiding part of the video and usually also subtitles. Old video players never had this issue at all.
The Samsung video player on my smartphone is a bit smarter and moves the subtitles to keep them readable, so it gets props for that.
