I also thought about what head shape to actually go for and I realized that many dragons use the same Artist Magic™ that allows paws to work like hands when it's convenient, except in case of dragons it's binocular vision while keeping that distinct reptile head shape. If I think about the adjustments needed to give a reptile binocular vision and make it actually useful, the head becomes way more canine-ish
