@volpeon@icy.wyvern.ripWhat people who go "I don't use CWs because everyone MUST see this" don't realize is that microblogging fundamentally flips around the dynamic of our interaction with the world. Rather than explicitly opting into specific social contexts — a website, a group of friends, the news — microblogging forces you to engage with everything all the time without any break. CWs and all the other tools to opt-out are ridiculously bad and ineffective and in the grand scheme of things can't do shit against the negative effects of this type of platform design, but they offer at least a little bit of protection.
