rant, touch buttons @anthropy The epitome of this are the Ford cars I'm familiar with. One is the top model with the latest features and stuff, the other is a "budget" model (or the most "budget" one after they slashed the real budget models).

The latter has a volume knob. Perfectly usable, everyone knows how it works and can handle it without looking.
The former has a touch area that's slightly sunk-in, and you slide your finger to the left/right to decrease/increase volume. When trying to figure out where it is without looking, you often inadvertently use it. Everyone hates it. It's the most unnecessary and useless redesign of an established feature I can think of.
