But I don't quite agree with this. You aren't only affected by decisions your own instance admins make, but also those of other instances. If you interact with someone in a regular basis and their admins decided to suspend you for whatever reason, then it doesn't matter who your admins are, your connection will be severed. You would've had no choice in this.
Obviously, communities must be able to keep certain people away. The issue is rather that as I said a lot lately, instances as communities doesn't really hold and moderation decisions have more invasive effects than anywhere outside of fedi. Imagine if a Discord server kicked you out and you couldn't talk with any of its members ever again.
