Volpeon (Bonus) :wvrnFlat: (@volpi)

So I got a new fursona: volpeon.ink/art/2025-areon/
...and I figured I'd talk about the role he's playing to me. He's clearly different from my wyvern. He's large and imposing and probably feels intimidating because of that. He's bipedal, even somewhat humanoid.

If you had asked me 5 years ago, I would've never come up with such a character for myself. My feelings tell me that being something other than human would be better, and so humanoid features became undesirable to have in a character to represent myself.

This is still true today, but there's more nuance to it that I'm now willing to explore. While my wyvern character is a form I wish to have, Areon is more symbolic. His appearance suggests a creature of instinct and animalistic urges, but that impression is contrasted by the visor as a product of science and technology. He's basically a tangible form of my own contradictory feelings: The one side which wants to be an animal at any cost, and the other side which understands that a lot of aspects exclusive to the human experience made me who I am today and which I wouldn't want to give up.
