@ziphi I relate with this. There's a lot I don't have in common with both therians (the sensations and mysticism you mentioned) and furries (I don't particularly care about anthro characters or fursuits or events), and there are even parts of both communities I actively dislike. That's why I'm reluctant to use both labels to describe myself.
The mindset I adopted in recent years is that interacting with people as individuals rather than as part of a group works better for me. I don't need to be a therian in order to interact with therians, and we can still have things in common even if I don't fit into the therian category. Same goes for furries. A label doesn't control the reality of your feelings and experiences.
Posting my perspective on these topics here has shown me that there are actually quite a few people with similar views, who voiced appreciation for my posts because they aren't just another echo of what the community considers to be "the right way".
