I found the solution: I had to enable this about:config value entry: widget.wayland.fractional-scale.enabled
Weird because it worked until recently with this setting disabled and it already landed a year ago.

Images haven't been loading reliably since I switched to S3 storage. But at least I don't have to worry about disk space on my VPS anymore drgn__w_
