So many people use 150% UI scalling that it at least explains why UI scaling appears to cause so many problems for others, but none for me (with 200%). Fractional scaling is an entirely different beast from integer scaling.
@wakame People keep telling me UI scaling is weird, but that doesn't match my experiences at all these days. It used to be bad at the beginning, but I don't remember the last time I had issues
@stefan Using Mastodon on a 4K display with UI scaling set to 200% leads to emojis being rendered at 40x40 rather than 20x20. They aren't larger, but you can see fine details which helps a lot with legibility.
I would've expected 4K PC monitors to be the default by now. I bought my 4K display in 2016, so 9 years ago. In that same time span, I had gone from a 1024x768 CRT to a 1680x1050 display to a 1080p display. Why are we stagnating there? It's making my life as an emoji designer unnecessarily difficult.
@SebinNyshkim I really don't think it's on my end when it happens with Firefox, Chromium and Edge, on Windows 11 and Linux and (through a VPN) Windows 10
