I didn't really have any plans for his design apart from "mantled beast meets werewolf". The fur color was a placeholder, but as I was working on the shading, I liked how it looked and decided to leave the colors as-is.
This created an entirely new challenge for me, where shading was extremely important because otherwise features would melt together and the body would be an unrecognizeable blob. Just imagine that hand in the foreground and the body behind it with less or no shading.
I'm proud of this drawing because I managed to make it work. The fur looks fluffy, the leg shading is one step better compared to my wyvern ref sheet, and I even drew two hands with full shading! This was only the second time I drew hands, so I struggled quite a bit with that part, though.
Overall, this was the perfect project on my week off.
