@cwebber It's funny how the article mentions all those big names with emphasis and all, and I just don't know any of them because I don't care. I'm just doing my thing, discover new things on my own and if something seems interesting to me — not to some supposed big shot, to me — I'll give it a try.
The evil cycle of - Going to bed late - Being eepy the next day - Quick nap after work - Not being all that eepy in the evening - Going to bed late - …
Oh, and another observation. I follow Japanese artists as well, and they don't do any of this. Their chances of getting kicked off my follow list are way lower.
@dzamie By chain posting, I mean quote threads repeating the same thing: "If you see this, post [a wolf, your art with a forest,...]" or "Get to know your mutuals ✨️ list 10 things you're into! [List of 10 things]"
It's another reminder that I just don't feel at home in artist spaces. I was also part of some Telegram group for artists quite a few years ago and I felt the same way back then. It doesn't bother me, it's just an observation. I'm happy with my online spaces.
I'm not rabidly against self-promotion, but the self-reposting and chain posting are a bit much on my Bluesky timeline. I was hoping to follow artists that aren't on fedi, but if that's what they're doing all the time then it bothers me too much
