@ity Uh, they sure do. If they make the UI intentionally misleading, users might move to a browser which doesn't. And in any case, it's easier for lawmakers to hold a bunch browser vendors (especially the large ones) accountable vs. hundreds of thousands of companies.
@ity I can see Google and Microsoft giving their own sites unfair advantages as usual, but outside of that it would definitely be better than the clusterfuck we have right now with consent popups being intentionally a pain in the ass.
